The project reinforces SferaOne’s commitment to clean and sustainable energy solutions
Baku, July 29, 2024 – SferaOne, a leading company in engineering and construction services specializing in generation, savings, and energy efficiency solutions, has inaugurated an ambitious project in Baku, Azerbaijan, consisting of a floating photovoltaic plant located on Lake Boyuksor. The inauguration ceremony, held on Monday, July 29, was attended by senior officials from the Azerbaijan Ministry of Energy and representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), among other distinguished guests.
The 100 kWp project has been executed by SferaOne under the EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) model. This floating photovoltaic plant not only represents a significant advancement in the development of renewable energies in the region but also stands out for its innovative technology and multiple environmental and operational benefits.
Floating photovoltaic plants, such as the one installed on Lake Boyuksor, offer a range of unique advantages. These include improved water quality due to reduced algae growth and decreased evaporation. Additionally, these plants achieve higher energy performance due to the cooling effect of the water, which helps maintain lower temperatures for the solar panels, thereby optimizing their efficiency.
This project is a clear reflection of SferaOne’s commitment to the energy transition and its goal of contributing to a more sustainable world. Since its founding in 2006, the company has been at the forefront of implementing innovative energy solutions that promote savings and efficiency.
Pedro Cuevas, CEO of SferaOne, expressed his enthusiasm for the project: “The inauguration of this floating photovoltaic plant on Lake Boyuksor is a significant milestone for SferaOne and for the energy transition in Azerbaijan. This technology not only allows us to efficiently harness the region’s vast solar potential but also demonstrates our ongoing commitment to innovation and sustainability. We are proud to contribute to the development of clean energy infrastructure that will benefit both the local community and the environment.”
