Madrid, July 3, 2024 – Wenea, the leading independent electric vehicle charging operator in Spain, now has over 70 charging points between Málaga and Seville, reaffirming the company’s commitment to contributing to the development of electric mobility in Andalusia.

Málaga and Seville are two of the fastest-growing financial and tourist regions in Spain, and both play a crucial role in Wenea’s expansion. Andalusia, known for its technological potential, is striving to become a sustainability leader. In fact, zero-emission vehicle registrations, including electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, increased by 40% in 2023 in Andalusia, according to official data from the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT).

At the regional level, Andalusia ranks as the second region, after Madrid, in Wenea’s charger deployment, with over 140 charging points in both urban areas and highways, offering capacities of up to 150 kW to meet all mobility needs of its customers.

Last year, Wenea secured 80% of the Andalusian Health Service tender for the deployment of 308 chargers. This project is aimed at the deployment, maintenance, management, and operation of charging stations in healthcare centers across Andalusia, with the goal of accelerating the adoption of electric mobility, reducing CO2 emissions, and providing convenience and accessibility to healthcare professionals, patients, and visitors.

Interoperability to Connect with Europe

Wenea offers its users a comprehensive solution for charging electric vehicles in interurban, urban, and residential environments. The company’s chargers are accessible through its mobile app, and thanks to interoperability agreements, Wenea provides access to over 100,000 charging points across Europe.

In this context, Alberto Cantero, CEO of Wenea, stated: “Our goal is to develop infrastructure that facilitates the transition to electric vehicles and promotes a cleaner environment. Andalusia is key to our expansion, and cities like Málaga and Seville, with their focus on sustainability, are ideal for our charging solutions. At Wenea, we are committed to meeting the needs of electric vehicle users at their destinations and along their travel routes, with solutions tailored to each scenario.”
